My uncle was in a motorcycle accident on Sunday. He hit a deer on a pass (said pass had lots of curves). He wasn't wearing a helmet. He was airlifted to Farmington, New Mexico from Wolfcreek Pass in Colorado.
He was in surgery for 4 hours on Sunday, and on Monday it was looking a little better, but the nurse told my mom she needed to come out. She flew out on Tuesday, yesterday. Most of the family arrived yesterday as well.
Last night the pressure in my uncle's brain was at 70. A normal, healthy person has a pressure of 8. This morning (Wednesday) they did a test to check, and he wasn't getting any blood to his brain. He was declared brain dead. They're going to get his body healthy so that they can donate his organs and he's going to go to a research facility for two weeks before they cremate him and send his remains to his wife. My mom's not sure how long she's going to be gone.
Please, don't let yourself or your loved ones ride without a helmet, whether or not it's the law. Dieing because you couldn't bring yourself to wear a helmet is just stupid. There will always be unexpected things in life, so save yourself from a bit of that trouble and wear a helmet.

I'm mad, and I'm sad, and I want to throttle something. Maybe the mood selector, since it's not working...
